Birthing & Postpartum Support: Birth Classes

Consultation

During your consultation we will  decide whether or not you want to continue building a relationship with me as your Doula. During this time, I will listen carefully to what you're looking for in a doula, and give you an opportunity to ask me  whatever questions you might have. Hopefully we’ll come out of our meeting with a sense of compatibility and excitement. This is really a time for us to get to know each other and make sure I can support you in the ways you desire.

Prenatal Visits

Over the next several months we will continue to get to know one another and build our relationship. We will develop your ideal birth plan, and discuss what measures can be taken to increase the chances that you achieve your desired outcome. We’ll set up at least two Home Visits to discuss your thoughts, concerns, wishes or dreams surrounding birth, not only for your baby but more importantly for you! We will practice birthing positions, labor coping mechanisms, and work to reframe your state of mind regarding pregnancy into an expectation of excitement, joy and transformation.  Make sure your bag is packed properly, and prep your partner as well.  Outside of our two visits, I am available to you throughout the entirety of your pregnancy for emotional support via phone or text.
I am available to you 24/7 for two weeks prior to your baby’s estimated due date, until they are born.

Birthing Positions

You might discover that you need or want to change positions to get comfortable or to help labor progress. I will come armed with a myriad of positions you can try. If Touch is your love language I can give massages, apply counter pressure, lead breathing techniques and many  other comforting touches to help you relax.
Regardless of who is in the delivery room with your—partner, friend, family member, etc—I will be there to provide support for them as well. This allows your support person to be as involved in the birthing process as they’d like to be. Having both physical and emotional support available makes a big difference for everyone involved.

Emotional Support

Together, we will decide when the best time is for me to join you in your laboring. Once there, I will provide you with continuous support during your birthing process. My Goal is to ease the emotional stress that accompanies the birth of a new baby. By doing this we  can reduce the need for interventions like cesareans, epidurals, and labor-inducing measures.
I will act as a gatekeeper for peace and create a space you can relax in, especially when emotions and hormones are running high. My Goal is not to persuade you to have a natural birth, it is to support you in achieving your  desired birth outcome, and reduce birth related trauma. Whether you are having a natural birth or are using medication to help with the pain, everyone can benefit from additional emotional support from a nurturing and empowering source.

Postpartum Visits

After your baby is born, within 1 week postpartum, I will visit you at your home. I am available to support you in processing your birth story, and offer emotional support and breastfeeding resources to you as you adjust to your new life with baby! Or just help you get a few loads of laundry done and a meal cooked!
